The Religious Studies Minor

Explore the religions of the world and how those religions are practiced and studied across cultures.

The online minor in Religious Studies explores religions of the world including Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Christianity. Course topics explore how those religions are practiced and studied across cultures. This minor aims to create a foundational understanding of these faiths so one can interact with people from different cultures in a more empathetic nature, both interpersonally and in your career.

Requirements

Any student admitted to an undergraduate degree program at WVU may undertake a minor in Religious Studies. The minor consists of 15 hours of course work in Religious Studies, with at least nine hours at the upper-level (300-level or above). A grade of at least “C” must be earned in all courses counted toward the minor.

It is the responsibility of students minoring in religious studies to maintain close contact with the office of the Religious Studies Program concerning the scheduling of the above courses.

The on-campus minor

Mix and match in-person and online courses to fit your schedule! Your selection of courses will vary depending on your interests and your major; we offer courses in both Western and Eastern religions and scripture, as well as a range of regularly rotating topical courses including "Religion and Science," "Theories of Magic," and "The Evolution of Evil."

Contact any of our faculty members for more details about the minor!
