Specializations: Reformed and Feminist Theology, Hermeneutics, Christian Scriptures
My dissertation focused on defining a hermeneutic (frame for interpreting scripture) that embodied both Reformed and feminist perspectives (primarily in a North American context). This framework for theology and interpretation was used also to analyze and offer revisions to a protestant curriculum for youth. In addition, I am interested in the study of the Christian Scriptures (a.k.a. the New Testament) particularly utilizing various methods of critical interpretation â” historical critical, redaction, ideological, etc. In addition to interests around the study and use of scripture, I study Reformed theology, liberation theologies, and theories for teaching scripture and theology in congregational contexts. I am a member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the American Academy of Religion.
In my “free” time, myself, my husband, and my son enjoy walking and biking on the rail trails in and around Morgantown and catching local music around the area.
